Albany-Saratoga Speedway – Full 8 Sports Marketing – The weather was finally cooperating in the northeast and the grandstands were full for another action-packed night of racing at Albany-Saratoga Speedway. The 21k had plans to improve last week’s top 5 performance.  With the sprint cars in town, the night would be modified for many of the regular classes meaning the crew would getting get one shot at the cars set up for the feature.

The car was decent in warm ups but the set up was slightly off as the team expected a dryer racing surface. The 21k ranked 20th out of 32 sportsman cars in warm-ups. With no heat races for the class, the next time on the track was for the feature.

Stephen lined up 13th on the starting grid and knew that the mid-pack start would mean heavy racing but he had to bide his time until things settled out. The 21k slowly made its way through the field. By the time Stephen came around to the crossed flags, he was in 5th place. Once again, the crew nailed the set up. “I was able to drive it in harder and it would stick wherever I put it.” The 21k rode 5th for most of the race until a late race restart shuffled the deck. Stephen fell back two spots but battled back and finished the race in 6th.

Another disqualification at tech would land Stephen an official 5th place finish, exactly like the week before.

“The evening went really well. We kept going with our newer set up package and it was great moving up a good amount of positions. I was happy making up 8 positions in the feature especially because there was no heat race. While I feel bad for my competitor being disqualified at the end, I am super happy with another top five on the season!” - Stephen
