Stephen Kneer Shakes off Rough Night at Albany-Saratoga

Ballston Spa, NY: Albany-Saratoga Speedway; July 13, 2018: The 21K team unloaded in the pits last Friday night ready to fight for the checkers once again. The team has been putting together consistent top 5 finishes and hoped this weekend would be no different. With the sprint cars in town, the limited class would not run heats. Luck of “The Draw” would set the starting field and luck was not on Stephen’s side. Stephen would start the race in 14th out of 15 cars.

The 21K was fast right out the gate. Stephen stormed into the top half of the sportsman warm up times putting up a 16.941. Confident in the car, Stephen shook of the bad draw and prepared to battle his way to the front of the pack.

The feature took to the grid early in the night. The 21K fired off from the tail end of the pack. Stephen drove his Bicknell half way through the field within the first few laps! Friday the 13th luck reared its ugly head on lap 7 for the Sharp Upholstery 21K. Hard contact in turn 1 forced the 21k into the pits. A quick look revealed a right rear flat that was changed with the help of Jack Lehner.

Stephen started in the rear and began picking off cars again. By the time the checkered flags flew, Stephen had worked his way back into 7th place.

"Friday was definitely a struggle for us. Some unfortunate events ruined our shot at a top 3 finish but still came back strong thanks to my team!"
