Race Week Recap – May 31st – June 2nd

Ballston Spa, NY: Albany-Saratoga Speedway; May 31, 2019: Stephen Kneer unloaded a rocket ship Friday night. The 21K timed 6th fastest with some of Kneer’s best times of the season! In the heat race, he started 5th and crossed the line in 10th which earned him a 28th starting spot in the feature. With a field of 35 cars, there were several cautions. Kneer had made his way up as high as 20th but the night took a turn. Stephen took a hard hit on lap 15 and would be done for the night collecting a 30th place finish and a headache as the only trophy.

A trip to the hospital confirmed a concussion, Kneer will be out at least 2 weeks.

West Lebanon, NY: Lebanon Valley Speedway; June 1, 2019: If not for bad luck, the Gomm Brothers would have none at all. Jake is still working on the 23DD where transmission and brake issue have plagued him since open practice. The 32DD seems to be a similar story. After “smoke showing” on the final laps of Tomm’s first race of the season, the crew thought they had an easy fix, a broken alternator bracket caused the belts to work loose and shred causing the light smoke condition. Unfortunately, as the crew dug deeper, it was determined the rear main seal was bad and the motor had to be pulled. As the transmission was pulled, Tomm noticed not one but 2 holes. A new transmission will be installed after the motor is pulled. The team expects to be on the track this coming weekend!

Fultonville, NY: Glen Ridge Motorsports Park; June 2, 2019: With weather looming, the guys at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park did all they could to get a jam-packed night of racing in, and they succeeded!! A rain delay pushed the schedule back but what a great night it turned out to be!

With a few minor adjustments from the season opener and a little bit of good luck, Ryan Heath started on the pole of the heat race and crossed the line P3. With a fast track and a whole lot of confidence, Heath would start 5th in the feature. 30 laps later when the checkers flew, Heath was in 4th place. His first top 5 finish of the season.
